My first bake - Blueberry muffins

My blueberry muffins

My ingredients and my Mary Berry recipe book

I chose to make a recipe from Mummy's Mary Berry cook book (Mary Berry's Baking Bible), as I really like her on Great British Bake Off. I chose the Blueberry muffins on page 128 because they looked healthy and delicious.

1) First I collected all the ingredients from around the kitchen, fridge and under the stairs (Mummy's pantry).

2) I then set the oven to Fan 180.

3) I then mixed together the flour, baking powder and butter to make "breadcrumbs". See my photo below. I then added the blueberries, sugar and grated lemon rind.

4) I then stirred our home made eggs (thanks to our pets chickens....Delia, Nigella and Mary). They are very very yellow and much nicer than shop bought ones. I then added the milk to the eggs.

5) I then added the eggs mixture to the dry mixture and carefully stirred them together.

6) I then divided the mixture equally between 12 muffin cases and put them in the oven for about 20 minutes, until they were golden and firm to touch.
7) I let them cool for a few minutes, and Mummy took a few photos, before we decided to tuck in.

They tasted really good. I shared them with my friends and family. During my bake I learnt about how to set the oven temperature, and also how to safely grate the rind off a lemon (without hurting myself).

I think next time I might bake a single larger cake.

Until next time....happy baking, kid@kitchen. x
