GBBO Orange love heart cake

Image
This is the orange sponge cake I made for grandads birthday. It's a good one to make for anyone who is gluten intolerant, and I used it as my Nanna is and I wanted her to eat it too. I followed the recipe from The Great British Bake Off - How to bake (see photo).           I beat it with a hand whisk until it was mousse like, it's a bit like making a meringue.    To make the cake extra special for Grandad, I used a heart shaped cake tin from Ikea. When you pour the syrup over the cake, it looks like it won't soak in, which is a bit worrying.....but it did. I decorated it with little chocolate buttons and served it with creme fraiche.    Grandad loved his birthday cake.  Other people have blogged about this recipe: http://recipes.thegreatbritishbakestore.co.uk/2013/05/how-to-make-orange-sponge-cake-by-lisa.html

Jamie's chocolate porridge

Image
Cooking the chocolate porridge recipe from Jamies latest cookbook "superfood family classics". The recipe is available online Ingredients 200g of dates, 200g of hazelnuts, 400g of porridge oats, 2 teaspoons  of vanilla extract, 3 heaped tablespoons cocoa powder, 1 oranges zest. First you pour the hazelnuts in a pan and grill them for about 3mins.  Then you put the right amount of ingredients in, then grind it up in a food processor. And it should look like this. And put in a air tight container where it will last a couple of weeks. 👌👍😀 And if you wanted to you could prepare some fruit.  Then put the mixture in a pan to boil and stir as well. Like this. This is my sisters. This is my mums. And this is mine. Yum yum yum
